Sunset Sunrise

The Golden Coast
can always boast
sunsets that catch the eye
with orange hues
pacific blues
and fire in the sky

but in the East
the scenic feast
a golden ball of light
like honeydew
the grand debut
is morning, not the night

and in its prime
the sun sublime
is sure to cause you pause
at East or West
at rise or rest
Its worthy of applause

Slime Time

Haikus shouldn’t rhyme
If they do rhyme then they’re slime
I guess it’s slime time

Bare Feet

I wash and wash
And scrub and rub
While I soak them in the tub
There’s so much mud
And other crud
Under my nails
Like slime from snails
And hay from bales
And splinters from sticks
I’ve got thorn pricks
There are cuts and slices
Oh what a crisis!
I’ll never play barefoot again
No sir
I’ve learned
That bare feet invite troubles
Which is why I’m stuck here
Out of cheer
In all these bubbles.

Fairy Limerick

In trees the fairies live free
To fly and whisper to me
They sing me sweet songs
And how my heart longs
To, with them, forever be

I Can't Get Up

I wish I could do all my chores
Like clean my room and sweep the floors

I want to work and move round
But each feather in my blanket weighs a pound

My pillow-it has tangled my hair
And put a lock somewhere up there

My pajamas just don’t want to move
No matter how much I behoove

My thumb is numb, it won’t succumb
I’ve noticed that my mouth is dumb

My sheets have grabbed me with a grip
A grip that simply refuses to slip

Can’t you see my toes lack wiggles?
Instead of ringing my alarm clock giggles

I can’t get up, I’ve tried my best
I suppose the best thing to do is rest

So I’ll lay here while you run about
And I’ll try to figure this odd thing out

So come back later and check on me
But be quiet, please, as a courtesy

The Old Man's Bones

Rickity Crickity Snickity Snoo
The Old Man’s bones go crackity too
He wobbles and stumbles
He bumbles then tumbles
head-on
right into the loo.
